Product Information
SUNFLOWER WAX
A natural high-performing wax that’s perfect for refining and enhancing your formulations: Sunflower Wax.
Derived from sunflower seeds, this 100% vegetable wax is rich in long-chain saturated esters, offering a high melting point and impressive hardness. Unlike other waxes, a small amount of sunflower wax can stabilise and thicken your creations, thanks to its quick hardening and strong gelling capabilities. Also known for its emollient properties, Sunflower Wax helps lock in moisture, forming a protective film that enhances texture and boosts the longevity of products. Ideal for everything from lipsticks and mascaras to foundations and balms, Sunflower Wax brings structure, strength, and a smooth finish to cosmetics and skincare.
Add Sunflower Wax to your formulations for consistent quality, superior texture, and enhanced durability across a range of beauty and skincare applications.
- An abundance of long-chain fatty alcohols and acids (C20 and 22) makes Sunflower Wax a powerful ingredient for personal care products.
- These constituents are what gives Sunflower Wax its characteristic high melting point, durability, and conditioning benefits, making it ideal for cosmetics and skincare applications.
- C20 and C22 fatty alcohols act as emollients, forming a protective layer on the skin's surface to help retain moisture – good for dry, sensitive, or eczema-prone skin, improving hydration and soothing irritation.
- Oleic acid (C18:1) in Sunflower Wax is known for its moisturising and skin-conditioning benefits, which can also enhance skincare formulations.
- Some long-chain fatty acids have mild anti-inflammatory properties, which may help Sunflower Wax to reduce redness and soothe irritated skin.
- Natural properties of Sunflower Wax can enhance the absorption of other beneficial ingredients in skincare products by softening the skin’s surface and improving product stability.
- Sunflower Wax offers antioxidant protection, shielding the skin from environmental damage and free radicals, which can contribute to maintaining youthful, healthy skin.
- Natural properties in Sunflower Wax can improve hair manageability by forming a lightweight, non-greasy coating on the hair shaft, also adding shine and smoothness.

How to use Sunflower Wax
- Lip Balm: Melt Sunflower Wax with a blend of oils, like Fractionated Coconut Oil or Almond Oil, and Shea Butter, pour into a small lip balm container and allow it to cool and solidify before use.
- Body Butter Bar: To create an instant on-the-go skin moisturiser, combine Sunflower Wax with Shea Butter, Cocoa Butter, and a few drops of your favorite essential oils (we recommend Lavender or Carrot Seed Oil). Melt, pour into silicone moulds and allow to harden before rubbing over the skin.
- Hair Pomade: Melt Sunflower Wax with Castor Oil and a small amount of Shea Butter for a light, non-greasy hair pomade to hold, control frizz, and add shine. For added scalp benefits, add a few drops of Rosemary or Tea Tree Essential Oil to the melted liquid before it hardens.
- Hair Balm: Melt Sunflower Wax with a lightweight oil (like Argan or Jojoba Oil) and apply a small amount to the ends of your hair as a leave-in conditioner, adding moisture and shine to dry or frizzy ends without weighing the hair down.
- Face Moisturising Balm: To lock in moisture and improve skin hydration, melt a small amount of Sunflower Wax with nourishing oils (such as Jojoba or Almond Oil) and create a lightweight night treatment balm.
