Product Information
PEPPERMINT ESSENTIAL OIL (AUSTRALIAN)
Our Australian Peppermint Essential Oil is extracted from the Peppermint (Mentha Piperita) plant grown in Australia. The leaves are steam distilled to produce a clear-to-yellow oil naturally rich in menthol, and, like all Peppermint Essential Oils, is widely known for its pleasantly refreshing, crisp and sweet aroma and powerful ability to support a healthy body and mind.
In comparison to the cool aroma of our Mentha Arvensis peppermint variety and sweeter 'candy cane' aroma of the Mentha Piperita variety, Peppermint Australian carries a more subtle sweet-minty scent with hints of a herbacous yet floral undertone. Behind the scent lies natural properties said to fight colds, bacteria, inflammation and mental fatigue effectively.
The wide-ranging versatile benefits of Peppermint Essential Oil make it a popular oil helpful across almost all aspects of life, from therapeutic uses to household applications.
- Peppermint Oil is commonly used for its decongesting properties, with a natural menthol content that helps relieve symptoms of headaches, migraines, hay fever, colds, flu and blocked sinuses.
- The antiseptic properties of Peppermint Essential Oil fight vigilantly against bacteria and viruses, helping to reduce inflammation, muscle pain and swelling.
- Peppermint Oil is said to work wonders for the mind, lifting the mood and calming tempers while instilling focus in people with mental fatigue.
- Many Peppermint Oil users swear by its ability to combat nausea, with natural antispasmodic properties said to relax the gastric muscles and level unsettled tummies.
- Another popular use for Peppermint is to repel insects such as spiders, mosquitoes, wasps & bees, or deter unwanted rodents.
- Its fresh, minty scent and natural antibacterial properties help make Peppermint Oil a popular and effective household cleaning agent.
- Because of its pleasantly refreshing and sweet aroma, Peppermint Oil is often used as a fragrance in candles and soaps.

How to use Australian Peppermint Essential Oil
- Diffuse: Add a few drops to an aromatherapy diffuser and let the refreshing scent of Peppermint fill the space, helping support decongestion and mental focus.
- Massage: Dilute a few drops of Peppermint Oil into a carrier oil or massage oil to soothe tired, tight and sore muscles.
See topical dilution guide below for safe topical application - Migraine Stick: Add 8-10 drops of Peppermint to a 15ml roller bottle, filling the remainder with Fractionated Coconut Oil and apply to your forehead, temples and back of the neck to help relieve migraine symptoms.
- Foot Spa: To help sore, tired feet, add a drop or two of Peppermint Oil to a pool of warm water before soaking your feet for at least fifteen minutes.
- Insect Repellent: Add 8-10 drops of Peppermint Essential Oil to a 15ml roller bottle and top with Fractionated Coconut Oil to create a natural insect repellent. You can also create an insect repellent spray for your home by adding 10-20 drops to a spray bottle topped with water and a dash of vinegar. Spray the solution around the outside of your home (particularly doors and window frames) to help deter unwelcome pests.
- Rodent Deterrent: Pour a few drops of Peppermint Essential Oil onto several tissues or cotton buds and place them in the area where rodents are an issue (for example, your roof).
- Fast Remedy: Add 1-2 drops of Peppermint Oil onto a tissue and inhale at a distance while ensuring the oil does not directly contact your skin. Alternatively, you can smell the oil directly from the bottle.
Note: Due to its high menthol content, Peppermint Essential Oil may crystallise in cooler temperatures. Gently heating your oil bottle in a cup of warm water will return it to its liquid state.
