Product Information
NEEM OIL
Deeply nourishing for the skin (and great for keeping bugs at bay), Neem Oil is one pure and natural carrier oil on the rise!
Neem Oil derives from the seeds of the Neem tree (Melia azadirachta or Azadirachta indica) found in India. Here, it was originally used by farmers to ward off pests because of its natural insecticidal properties. While many people continue to use it for similar purposes today, protecting their plants from unwanted nasties, it’s the powerful anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties in Neem Oil now catapulting it up the natural health popularity charts.
Perfect for skin support, hair care, cosmetics and aromatherapy applications, Neem Oil makes a fantastic addition to any pure and natural oils collection.
- Rich in essential fatty acids - Oleic acid, Linoleic acid, Palmitic acid, and Stearic acid – Neem Oil has extensive skin-soothing, moisturising and therapeutic properties.
- The antioxidant Quercetin found in Neem Oil fights free radicals, promoting healthier, more youthful-looking skin with fewer fine lines.
- Neem Oil’s oxidative properties are also known to improve skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis and protect against UV-induced skin damage.
- Powerful anti-inflammatory properties reduce redness while calming inflamed skin and minimising soreness.
- With anti-fungal properties, Neem Oil helps address common fungal conditions like athlete’s foot and ringworm and fungal nail and scalp infections.
- Neem oil provides extra moisture to the hair, makes an effective conditioner, strengthens the hair and promotes growth.
- The Azadirachtin compound in Neem Oil, known for its insecticidal properties, acts as a protective shield, disrupting the reproduction process of insects to prevent them from causing damage to plants.

How to use Neem Oil
There are many ways to use Neem Oil at home – here are some of our favourite applications:
- Household Plant Protector: Most commonly used as a natural insecticide to help protect household plants from unwanted insects, you can apply Neem Oil directly to the leaves & stems of your plants using a cotton ball/tip (be sure to perform a patch test first!). Alternatively, you can make a soil spray by creating a 1:100 solution with water (i.e. 1ml Neem oil to 100ml water) and spraying the soil weekly.
- Directly on the Skin: Neem Oil is safe to apply directly to your skin, however, due to its potent aroma it is typically enjoyed in combination with other Carrier Oils and safe levels of Essential Oils. Use in your DIY formulations for facial serums & body moisturisers.
- Skincare Addition: Did you know, carrier oils can be added to your existing skincare products? Add 2-3 drops of Neem Oil to your regular body lotion, moisturiser or body oil to enhance its moisturising properties.
- Spot or Fungal Treatment: Clean the affected area and apply Neem Oil using a cotton wool ball. Leave for twenty minutes and rinse with warm water.
- Hair Care: Add 3-4 drops of Neem Oil to your usual amount of daily shampoo and wash/rinse your hair as normal. You can also create a hair treatment mask by mixing 1-2 tablespoons of Neem Oil with 2-3tbsp Aloe Vera Gel or Argan Oil, apply evenly across your hair and scalp, leave for up to 1 hour before washing thoroughly with shampoo as normal.
- Nail Treatment: Massage a small amount of Neem Oil onto your nailbeds nightly to help improve hangnails, keep cuticles soft, and heal minor nail fungal infections.
Note: Neem Oil is green to brown in colour and has quite a strong, distinct aroma.
Whilst it is considered safe for use directly on the skin, it is typically preferred when blended with other carrier oils / ingredients.
Neem Oil will also start to solidify into a butter consistency in cooler temperatures (generally under 10°C).
