MEADOWFOAM OIL REFINED

Fresh from the seeds of the Meadowfoam flower comes an all-natural, highly restorative carrier oil that’s new to the scene yet becoming popular as a natural personal care provider.

The Meadowfoam plant, or Limnanthes alba, is native to the western US states of California and Oregon. Originally grown as a replacement for sperm whale oil to protect the species, its seeds are cold-pressed and gently refined to produce an oil that’s light in texture and a superb emollient. The ability to withstand extremely high temperatures and oxidisation has made this durable, odourless oil a much-used additive to various products, from cosmetics and skincare products to sun block. It’s becoming a popular carrier oil used on its own or as an accompaniment to essential oils promoting healthier skin.

Use Meadowfoam Oil, also known as Meadowfoam Seed Oil, to create scent-free products or blend with essential oils or other skincare products without compromising their aroma.

  • An abundance of long-chain fatty acids gives Meadowfoam Oil its unique characteristics, including high oxidative stability, a long shelf life, and wide-ranging skincare properties.
  • Around 60-65% of Meadowfoam Oil is Eicosenoic acid, which provides the rich moisturising properties necessary for overall skin health.
  • Docosenoic acid, also present in Meadowfoam Oil, is an excellent emollient that helps keep the skin smooth and soft.
  • Docosadienoic acid – an anti-inflammatory – can help soothe irritated or inflamed skin, making it beneficial for conditions like eczema or psoriasis.
  • Oleic acid in Meadowfoam Oil hydrates the skin, keeping it nourished for longer and helping to fight against environmental damage.
  • A rich source of Vitamin E, Meadowfoam Oil contains antioxidant properties and is incredibly beneficial for managing and repairing damaged skin, improving elasticity and evening skin tone.
  • Also used in hair care, Meadowfoam is particularly beneficial for dry or damaged hair, adding moisture and protection.
