How to use Dead Sea Salt

There are multiple ways to enjoy Dead Sea Salts – here are some of our favourite applications:

• Salt Bath: Take a soak in Dead Sea bath salts and let your skin and sore muscles relish the benefits. Add about ½ a cup of salt to your bathwater and soak for at least 20 minutes to allow for full skin absorption. Repeat 2 or 3 times weekly for maximum effect.
  For an extra relaxing soak – add 3-4 drops of essential oil (such as Lavender or Frankincense) and 2 drops of carrier oil.
• Foot Bath: Relax tired, aching and skin-chapped feet with a salt-infused foot bath. Add ¼ to ½ cup of salt to a small pool of warm water, add your feet and soak for twenty minutes minimum. Sit back and relax!
• Face Rinse: Spruce up tired-looking facial skin with a Dead Sea Salt rinse. Add 1 teaspoon of Dead Sea Salt to 1 cup of water and use as skin rinse or put into a spray bottle and apply as a spritz.
• Body Scrub: Exfoliate and remove dead skin cells easily using a revitalising skin scrub. Combine ½ cup olive or almond oil (pr another carrier oil of choice) with 1 cup Dead Sea Salt and 1-2 drops of your favourite essential oil (mandarin oil is a fantastic option for helping with cellulite). Mix and massage onto your skin, then leave for ten minutes to absorb. Wash away using warm water and a cloth.
• Scalp Cleanser: Remove dandruff and nourish hair roots with a scalp cleanser. Combine 1 tablespoon of Dead Sea Salt with 1 tablespoon of olive oil, massage into your hair and leave for five minutes, then wash with regular shampoo.

NOTE: AWO’s Dead Sea Salt is a COARSE grade and cannot be used as a body scrub / scalp cleanser in it’s current state. For this use, first grind or blend the salt into finer crystals to avoid any skin damage.

Things to consider when using Dead Sea Salt:

• While Dead Sea Salt is generally safe for all skin types, it may cause some people to react. If you experience a rash or hives after taking a salt bath, you are advised not to do so again before speaking with your GP. 
• Dead Sea Salt can irritate an open wound and interfere with the healing process. Avoid salt baths or any topical application to the wound site. 
• Chronic skin conditions may not always respond well to Dead Sea Salt – always seek advice from a medical professional before using salts on your skin.
