Product Information
CASTOR OIL
A popular and widely used carrier oil, pure Castor Oil, also known as Castor Carrier Oil, is celebrated for its rich nourishing properties and countless health and beauty benefits.
Packed with essential fatty acids – some not found in other oils – this is one powerhouse for personal care. Derived from the Ricinus communis plant, its seeds are cold pressed into Castor Oil, a carrier known to deeply moisturise and protect the skin against harsh environmental factors. It is also highly valued for haircare and is an effective softener for the follicles and scalp. With a subtle earthy scent, pure Castor Oil has been used since ancient times, particularly in ancient Egyptian civilizations and in Ayurvedic medicinal practices in India, and has recently become popular again due to its impressive healing abilities.
Add Castor Oil to your collection and enjoy the powerful benefits it delivers to your skin, hair & overall health.
- Thanks to its rich Ricinoleic acid content, a rare and highly valued monounsaturated fatty acid, Castor Oil contains extensive anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties.
- Other constituents like Linoleic and Oleic acids help to moisturise, soften and nourish the skin, enhancing the oil’s emollient properties.
- Linoleic acid in Castor Oil creates a protective barrier on the skin that works to provide a shield against harsh environmental conditions.
- When used on the skin, Castor Oil has the ability to penetrate deep into the skin and reach underlying tissue, muscles and joints, making it ideal for natural relief of joint inflammation and arthritis pain.
- The many antioxidants and anti-inflammatory action within Castor Oil help reduce swelling and calm itchy and uncomfortable skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis. These properties also help to alleviate skin discomfort from stings, bites and minor allergic reactions.
- Its fatty acid profile promotes the production of collagen and elastin, two proteins that help to maintain skin elasticity and strength, and aid in reducing fine lines and wrinkles.
- Castor Oils natural antimicrobial and antifungal properties may help to fight off fungal infections such as athletes foot, ringworm, and fungal or bacterial acne.
- When it comes to haircare, it is highly valued for its ability to nourish hair follicles, helping to soften the scalp and treat dandruff, as well as boost hair growth and thickness.
- Topical application of Castor Oil to the abdomen has gained recent popularity due to its reported ability to help remedy constipation, menstrual cramps, other abdominal discomforts, and general detox.
- Whilst there is a lack of medical studies, many swear by abdominal castor oil packs to help alleviate scar tissue (such as caesarean), fibroids, cysts, adhesions, digestive issues, symptoms of PCOS & Endometriosis, and much more.
- Castor Oil is one of the few carrier oils that can be used as an emulsifying agent, making it a popular additive to cosmetic applications such as creams, lotions, body butters & soaps.
This product is pharmaceutical grade, cold pressed (virgin) and hexane-free Castor Oil.

How to use Castor Oil
There are many ways to use Castor Oil at home – here are some of our favourites:
- Directly on the Skin: Castor Oil benefits are primarily received by using it directly on the skin. You can use it on its own or combined with safe levels of Essential Oils. It is also often recommended to blend with other Carrier Oil/s to thin out it's notoriously thick, 'sticky' nature.
- Skincare Formulations: Amazing for skin, Castor Oil makes for the perfect addition to your D.I.Y formulations such as face & skin serums, body butters, lotions and moisturizers, where a carrier oil is called for.
- Anti-ageing Eye Cream: Blend 2 drops of Castor Oil with a pump or two of Almond Oil and Shea Butter, then apply gently around your under-eye area to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles & puffiness.
- Hair Treatment: Apply Castor Oil directly to your scalp, hair roots, and ends of your hair to create a nourishing hair treatment. Leave for as long as desired and then shampoo thoroughly. For added hair-growing benefits, try adding a drop of Rosemary Essential Oil!
- Massage: Create a massage oil blend by mixing â…“ Castor Oil with â…” Almond or Grapeseed Oil to create a deeply penetrating anti-inflammatory massage oil.
- Joint Pain Relief: Using a small amount of oil, gently massage onto sore or achy areas to provide a natural remedy for muscle or joint discomfort.
- Castor Oil Pack: A popular way to reap many of the claimed benefits of topical castor oil application – but it can be messy! We recommend researching different methods of making your own castor oil pack and choosing the best option for you and your resources.
