BABASSU OIL REFINED
Babassu Oil comes from the seeds of the Babassu palm tree, a native plant to South America that has been valued for centuries due to its incredible healing power. Not just used for its seeds though, all parts of the Babassu palm are utilized for different purposes - its fruit, leaves, stems and even roots.
Rich in fatty acids, Babassu Oil is host to many medicinal properties such as anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antibacterial and antioxidant, all of which contribute to its ability to help encourage healing, treat skin conditions, reduce cellular damage, and boost skin & hair hydration.
These days, Babassu Oil is quickly becoming popular in skincare products due to its lightweight and non-comedogenic nature, incredibly hydrating properties, and healing benefits. In fact, it’s high Lauric acid content makes this oil very comparable to Coconut Oil, but without the greasy feeling that coconut oil can often leave. Also similar to coconut oil, is the fact that Babassu Oil will solidify in cooler ambient temperatures, varying from a liquid oil in the warmer months, to a firm solid oil in the cooler months.
- Lauric acid, which is the main fatty acid component in Babassu Oil, is known to fight against bacteria that can be found on the skin.
- This same key fatty aid is also anti-inflammatory, which therefore makes Babassu Oil beneficial for both cosmetic and medicinal topical uses to reduce inflammation.
- Its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory nature helps to encourage the healing of small wounds, rashes, bites, sunburns & even bring relief to skin conditions such as rosacea, psoriasis, and eczema.
- These same properties, whilst also boasting anti-fungal benefits, makes Babassu Oil highly beneficial for treating symptoms of acne. Plus, its healing and regenerative nature helps to reduce acne scarring.
- Babassu Oil’s antioxidant properties work to fight free radicals that cause cellular damage. This in turn helps to reduce the signs of premature aging such as fine lines and wrinkles.
- Incredibly moisturizing, Babassu Oil is beneficial for your skin by helping to relieve dry, cracked and itchy skin. Great for healing cracked heels!
- When applied to your face, it can provide long-lasting hydration without clogging pores or leaving a greasy, sticky feeling that other oils often can. Perfect for incorporating into your nightly skincare routine.
- When it comes to hair and scalp care, Babassu doesn’t disappoint! Its hydrating, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory and Vitamin E properties can bring soothing relief to a dry and itchy scalp, as well as alleviate dandruff and other inflammatory scalp conditions.
- It also works fantastically as a hair conditioner, working to protect strands from damage, reduce frizz, and boost hydration, resulting in shinier and healthier looking hair.

- Massage: Use straight or dilute 100ml of Babsassu Oil with a few drops of your favourite Essential Oil to create a hydrating and anti-inflammatory massage oil.
- Hair Mask: Apply a few drops (or small scoop) of Babassu Oil directly onto damp hair roots and ends to nourish and repair dry or damaged hair. Leave for a few minutes (or as long as possible) before shampooing well.
- Hair Conditioner: Revitalise dull and lacklustre hair by adding a few drops of Babassu Oil to your regular hair conditioner. Leave on the hair for 15 minutes and then rinse away.
- Leave-in Hair Treatment: Babassu Oils lightweight nature means it can be left in your hair. Apply a small amount of oil to your hands and run through the ends of your clean hair - best applied after washing (either before or after drying).
